The Mercury News says a Silicon Valley venture captitalist who has been very generous to Gavin in the past is closing up the purse strings until the Mayor shows some "character improvement."

Gavin just can't keep out of the news.

NBC11 is reporting that Gavin's latest squeeze - actress Jennifer Siebel - knew about the Mayor's recently admitted affair with his former campaign manager's wife. Siebel promoting her new film, the aptly titled The Trouble with Romance told the station that "I did know" about the affair and with regards to her relationship with Mayor McHottie, "We're fine."

Gavin has also taken the next step most politicians who wind up in a sex or other scandal take - playing the addiction card. Yes his name is Gavin and he is an alcoholic. Gavin announced that he is seeking outpatient alcohol rehab, effectively immediately.

"Thank you all for coming here on short notice. I want to make it clear that everything you've heard and read is true, and I am deeply sorry about that. I have hurt someone I care deeply about -- Alex Tourk -- and his friends and family, and that is something that I have to live with and something that I am deeply sorry for.

"I am also sorry that I have let the people of San Francisco down. They expect a lot of their mayor, and my personal lapse of judgment aside, I am committed to restoring their trust and confidence and will work very hard in the upcoming months to make sure that the business of running this city is framed appropriately.

"I also want to extend a personal apology to everyone in our administration, to my staff that I just met with, to my friends and my family members. I am deeply sorry and am accountable for what has occurred and have now begun the process of reconciling it and now will be working aggressively to advance our agenda in this city and to work hard to build again the trust, restore the trust, that the people of San Francisco have afforded me. I appreciate everyone taking the time to be here today. Thank you very much."

Time to take a look at what's the latest in the world of San Francisco's Mayor McHottie. Last week was not a good one for him. Maybe this week will be better?

ABC 7 (the LA one not the San Francisco one this time) is reporting that following last week's sex scandal, the Mayor has pledged to "work harder." This is after some recent worrying by Newsom's aides and supporters that the 39 year old mayor - under fire for losing the NFL 49ers football team to neighboring Santa Clara and dating a 20 year old Republican restaurant hostess - might just want to hang it up.

The Kennedy-esque hizzoner can take some solace in a San Jose Mercury News online reader poll in which 60 percent said he should not resign over his affair with his campaign manager's wife and city staffer. On the other hand people in San Jose can't vote in the San Francisco elections.

The Chronicle asks the man on the street if Gavin reflects San Francisco "values." I didn't know there was such a thing.

Of course not to forget LA's own Mayor who seems disturbed Gavin is soaking up the spotlight. The Daily News' Mariel Garza asks the question if Antonio Villaraigosa - who in the last week was working on mid-east peace, global working and investment in the Sudan on top of local potholes and gang violence - is too big for LA?

He was married to the incredibly hot Fox-TV news anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle who managed to get him into a lot of trouble. They split up after he'd been in office just two years.

Then he was dating a teenaged restaurant hostess who allegedly was guilty of underage drinking.

And just a few days ago his chief press deputy was outed for doing some anonyblogging on local blogs. Peter Ragone later admitted to the postings but said he was ghostwriting for a friend.

Just went it couldn't get any worse, San Francisco's own Mayor McHottie - Gavin Newsom - finds himself in hot water yet again.

Denizens of the City by the Bay are burning up the phone lines and blogs with the stories of Gavin's latest affair - that with his campaign manager's wife - Ruby Rippey-Tourk - who was also an employee of Newsom's office.

Gavin isn't even done with his first term and during that time he's gotten divorced, set the case for gay marriage back ten years, seen his ex-wife remarry and have a kid as well as all of the above. Gavin is up for re-election this year and its anyone's guess if he's going to get a second term.

It doesn't get any more fun than this!
